Food Review: Bites Cafe @ Lakefield, Sungai Besi

There's a new cafe in town! Folks living in the Lakefield neighbourhood or in the vicinity of Sungai Besi will be delighted to know that there's a new place serving good food at very reasonable prices. Speaking of new, they've actually been around for a couple of months now. But still considered new la haha.

Lakefield isn't too near my side of the town, but for the special menu that they offer plus its affordable pricing, I wouldn't mind making another trip here with the family for a relaxing weekend brunch!

Upon stepping into this Bites Cafe, I felt a sense of coziness from its well thought-out interior design and decor. Looking at its unique frames hung on the wall and cute collectibles arranged on the shelves, I could tell that the owners of Bites Cafe aimed to create a fun, creative and homey feeling for their customers.

We were there on a Wednesday evening at 8pm-ish, and to our surprise it was a full house, spotting families and many after-work professionals looking for a place to chill and have a good meal.

Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice [RM7.90]

Love the little cottage glass!

Strawberry & Banana Smoothie [RM10.90]

Quite a wide variety of cakes available. I wanted to have my hands on one of them but after our meal, I was too stuffed to have any more desserts! You'll see why soon enough ;)

Open kitchen concept.

Potato Salad [RM9.90]

We had two of these while waiting for our mains. They were really good starters as they were pretty flavourful. Would be great if they were a little softer to bite.

Leek & Potato Soup [RM9.90]

One of our starters as well. I particularly loved this soup! Leek and potatoes- LOVE!

The Italian [RM14.90]
- breakfast frittata with turkey ham, onions, spinach, cherry tomato, eggs and mushrooms.

I thought this was a pretty special dish as I hardly see this served in any other cafés before. It has all the right ingredients together, and something fresh out of the usual dishes served in cafés. Made without flour, perfect for those who are avoiding carbs! Best eaten while it's hot.

It's A Wrap [RM14.90]
- vegetarian wrap with salad and avocado in special orange and berries dressing

A healthy vegetarian dish with all the yummily nutritious ingredients! Loved the softness of the wrap.

Eggs Benedict [RM17.90]
- choice of smoked salmon OR beef bacon

Loved the hollandaise sauce and sautéed mushrooms. Just wished that the eggs were poached a little better for the yolk to be more runny, and the toast to be less hard.

The French [RM15.90]
- french toast with chicken ham, melted cheese, maple syrup and topped with sunny side up

It's been a while since I had a homestyle fresh toast! Mummy used to make these french toasts for me to bring to school :)) A mixture of sweet and savoury. My kinda dish cos I love mixing these flavours up...like dipping french fries in vanilla ice cream!

Our drinks finished quickly due to all the food we had! So we ordered our second glass of beverages and opted for the classic latte and chocolate milkshake this time.

Chocolate Milkshake [RM12.90]

Iced Latte [RM8.90]

Beef Bacon and Shrimp Pasta [RM18.90]

This was yummy! It could be a little more moist :)

Grilled Chicken and Waffle Sandwich [RM15.90]
- grilled chicken, sautéed mushrooms, melted cheese, mushroom sauce with a sunny side up

This is definitely a huge dish, with so many goodness in just one plate! Best eaten hot before waffles turn cold and hard.

Mmmmm mmmmm :))

Breakfast Pizza [RM14.90]
- beef bacon, baby spinach, mushroom, cheese and sunny side up

My mornings will be complete with these :)) Loved the mix of ingredients, just wished the crust could be less hard.

Club Sandwich Waffle [RM12.90]
- beef bacon, egg, lettuce, tartar sauce, served with fries and salad

This is also a huge dish! Felt a little too dry for me. Would be perfect if there were some sauce/dressing of some sort on this dish.

The Mexican [RM12.90]
- breakfast burritos with tortilla, chicken sausage, eggs, mushrooms and cheese

Heeee I love wraps cos they're healthy, and this one makes it less painful to eat as it comes with so many yummy stuffings!

Affogato with Crushed Cranberry Almond Biscotti + Pandan Kaya Ice Cream [RM9.90]

Not a coffee drinker, so can't judge on this but the husby said it was really nice! The Pandan Kaya ice cream was definitely something special :)

Dessert Waffles topped with Salted Gula Melaka Ice Cream
served with Caramelised Bananas [RM11.90]

The Salted Gula Melaka Ice Cream was really unique too! A tad too sweet for my liking but definitely worth at least a try :)

Dessert Waffles topped with Pandan Kaya Ice Cream
served with Caramelised Bananas [RM11.90]

Nutella, Strawberry & Banana Pizza [RM10.90]

Nutella lovers will salivate at the sight of this! Generous with its serving of nutella, bananas and strawberries. Again, just wished the crust was less hard.

Thus endeth our scrumptious food review! Had so much food on that night!!

Now that you've seen their menu, I'm sure you would agree with me that their dishes are something different compared to the usual cafés out there. Kudos to the team at Bites Cafe for being adventurous and trying out new and unique menus!

We were one of the last ones to leave so it was photo taime!

Shhhh. Don't wake the bears up.

Yes, you are :)

Company of the night.

After walking around and taking photos for a bit, our tummies made some way for The Last Polka ice creams!

With so many unique flavours staring back at us, we just couldn't resist but to indulge. Seriously spoilt for choice! Stood there for so long before we made our decision on which flavour to pick!

The Last Polka Homemade Ice Creams [RM9.90 each]

Finally decided on Nutella and Rum & Raisins.

Wishing that I live closer to Bites Cafe! A great place to have good breakfasts/brunches or even dinners without burning a hole in our pockets. Good food, very reasonable pricing, cozy ambience. Worth driving all the way here just to check it out ;)

My personal picks:
- Leek & Potato Soup
- The Italian
- The French
- The Mexican
:)
