The White Atelier Launch Weekend

April 22-23, 2017

This weekend was more than a dream come true for me. Getting The White Atelier up and running was my goal and once we officially opened our doors on 10th of March 2017, I was already very happy and felt like I conquered the world. Enquiries and orders came pouring in, and word of mouth spread faster than we expected which kept our hands full, too full to even think about planning a launch event to celebrate.

One day as I was chatting with my dear friend Adele, she asked me when I'll be having the launch event for The White Atelier, and I told her soon, but I don't know when cos we were so occupied from day-to-day. Then she said, "No la, have to do wan. You must do okay!", and that pushed me into thinking about planning the launch more and soon I found myself staying up in the wee hours, drafting the event details and compiling our guest list. So, thank you Adele for helping to make TWA's launch happen! ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Once I got down to compiling our guest list, I realised that we had too many people that we would like to invite! So that left us no choice but to split our launch event into two days. For Day One, we had our friends from the media, bloggers and social media peeps, clients and industry friends. We also had a giveaway where we invited 10 of our supportive Instagram followers and their plus ones to join us! For Day Two, we had the company of our families and more friends. Over the weekend, we hosted approximately 150 people in total!

Shall share more as we go along, but for now, enjoy the beautiful pictures taken by the sister, Gladys /Captured Gladness, who was the official photography of the weekend!

Our event on Day One began at 11:00am, but the day started way earlier for some of us. In fact, our event stylists- The Scarlet Production came in a day earlier to do some preliminary set up before the actual day, and stayed well into the night to perfect the photo walls.

And on the actual day, all our vendors came in way earlier than everybody else to ensure that everything was beautifully in place.

The dessert table of my dreams.

Before we dive into the details, let me share with you the idea behind the launch event! The theme was Romantic Rustic with the colour palettes of cream, green and blush tones here and there. Which explains the colour combination for our dessert table!

The beautiful macaron tower was masterfully crafted by the Foret Blanc team, which never fails to impress with their detailed work of art. I mean, look at those hand-painted macarons! ๐Ÿ˜ Not only were they pretty in sight, they were really yummy that the macaron tower was gone before we realised! Good thing was, everybody took home macarons in their door gifts courtesy of Foret Blanc, which our guests were delighted to find!

Our cake was done by the talented Michelle, founder of Bakes and Inks! Her work is always beautiful and dainty, minimal with a touch of floral magic. If you check out their Instagram account, you'll know what I'm talking about! Apart from baking, Michelle is a also a calligrapher, which explains the name Bakes and Inks!

These adorable mini cupcakes were also done by Bakes and Inks!
Red velvet is ALWAYS my favourite!

Another crowd favourite on the dessert table has got to be these chocolate coated strawberries by The Scarlet Bakery! ๐Ÿ“ They finished up so fast that my guests kept coming up to me to ask where we got them from!

In case you're wondering, The Scarlet does event planning and styling (The Scarlet Production), desserts (The Scarlet Bakery), florals (The Scarlet Flower) and also balloons (The Scarlet Balloon)! They're all under the same company, founded by this young and capable lady called Miko (will show you her pretty face later in this post!).

Apart from serving desserts alone, we also had canapรฉs catered by The Naked Lunchbox. On days that they're not catering for events, they deliver healthy and affordable lunchboxes to the doorsteps!

On the menu, we had:

Tomato Salsa Crostini
Cucumber Cashew Cream Tzatziki Crostini
Grilled Vegetable Frittata
Crunchy Kyuri w/ Hummus
Sweet Potato Spinach Bites

If you think healthy canapรฉs sound bland and boring, you haven't tasted the ones from The Naked Lunchbox yet! Visit their website, order a lunchbox and give them a try and you'll know what I mean!

For drinks, I wanted to serve something signature in pink! Initially I was going to opt for Pink Moscato, but due to budget constraints (Boon would kill me lol) and also the fact that we had Muslims and kids at our event, we decided to go for non-alcoholic drinks. Just when I was scratching my head thinking what drinks we could serve, my dear girl friend, Hui Wen texted me to ask if I needed any help. I normally don't like to ask for help cos I don't like to trouble others, but when she asked me I jumped at it right away cos I was handling just too many things at the moment. Also, because I knew that I could count on Hui Wen for anything, especially so for creative stuff like this! She loves planning and styling events, and hosting parties, so I knew she would be able to come up with something brilliant this time too!

True enough, when I shared with her what I had in mind, she immediately searched up and sent me pictures of pink lemonades from Pinterest. Isn't it great to have friends who can read your mind? Aside from helping me to come up with ideas, Hui Wen went out of the way to buy the pink lemonades and rosemary from the grocer and arrived early on the event day itself so that we could prepare the drinks ahead of time. I seriously have so many people to thank for this launch ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Our studio was transformed into a little garden with florals and greeneries at every corner! My idea was to create an ambience of a real wedding- romantic and ethereal, filled with flowers, candles, music and most of all, beautiful moments.

That was how our photo wall was conceptualised. I'm a fan of vines and garlands, and my dream photo backdrop has always been to have vines "growing" on the wall and some hanging from the ceiling. I also wanted our guests to feel like they're in a wedding, so we included photo props of two different types of floral bouquets for our guests to match with their outfits!

When I shared this idea with The Scarlet Production, all they said were, "Okay, can", and taddaaaaa! They were realized on the launch day just like that ✨

Here are some beautiful moments shared amongst our guests!

These were the two ladies who were instrumental in making The White Atelier's launch happen- Adele who pestered me to do it, and Miko, the founder of The Scarlet who helped a great deal in making the launch beautiful! ♥

On Day Two, our event started as early at 11:00am, with our first session of the day dedicated to our family members and close friends, followed by more close friends at the 1:00pm slot! Yes, Boon and I have got many family members and many good friends, which explains why our wedding had 510 guests ๐Ÿ˜…

It was a really fun time hosting everybody as it was most of everybody's first stepping foot into The White Atelier! We're glad everyone had a good time ♥

I feel like I need to make a special shout out to our boy. Tyler played host along with Boon and I over both days, and he was just really independent and hospitable! Okay, he may not have served everyone drinks but he was just really jovial most of the time, walking around by himself and just making himself really at home. He was clingy to me at some point cos I think he felt a bit lost in the midst of SO many guests, but he still did great and Boon and I felt really proud of him ♥

These bubble balloons by The Scarlet Balloon were a hit amongst the kids! They LOVED them so much that some of our little guests brought some of the balloons home ๐ŸŽˆ And did you notice the little leaves inside the balloons? Until today I still don't know how they do it, but yeah. Kudos to The Scarlet Balloon team for delivering exactly what I had in mind, yet again! ๐Ÿ‘

Have I mentioned that we had a special corner for our guests to "assemble" their door gift? My initial idea was to gift our guests with florals of some sort for them to bring home, and I thought floral bouquets would be too much. Then came the idea of mini floral bouquets in the form of ice cream cones! Instead of pre-arranging the florals for our guests, we had a Flower Workshop corner where our guests could pick and arrange their floral cone bouquets and bring them home!

Thanks to The Scarlet Flower for making this possible!
Our guests had so much fun putting together their little bouquet!

Oh, if you're wondering why everyone is dressed in such matching tones, it's cos our dress code was White or Pastels! It sure made a huge difference as to how the photos turned out! So nice of everyone to come in the colour theme too ♥ (though there were some who came in black *ahem*) ๐Ÿ˜

It was nice to see how our guests were so at home, fully utilising our beautiful wall for photos! ๐Ÿ˜

When your parents request for a couple photo of them to be taken ๐Ÿ˜ #goals

My family, my support system ♥

Our studio was flooded with balloons, flowers, and gifts from all our guests who came and those who couldn't join us. Every single person invited meant something to us, and to see how everyone made the time and effort to be there, to send us a gift or text saying they couldn't make it, every little congratulatory note and wish meant so much to us. Indeed it is the people in our lives and their love and support that helped us reach where we are today. And it's only the beginning.

Many of you asked where I got my outfits from via Instagram! Both outfits over the two days were from my favourite Love, Bonito! You can shop online or browse their collection in their Mid Valley and Paradigm Mall outlets :)

Boon and I (and Tyler) would like to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for loving and supporting our journey from day one. We're so overwhelmed with all the love, and so thankful for every single person who were there, and those who helped out in little and big ways.

Special shout out to all our vendors who helped make our launch event a success!
